“Bringing hope to cancer patients and their families” has been the key mission since Gems of Hope has been in existence over 9 years ago. In 2014 they created a Gems of Hope Scholarship opportunity for graduating seniors in Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities who have personally been affected by cancer. The scholarships are awarded based on need, not grades.
Criteria for this $750 scholarship includes:
- The student has been previously diagnosed with cancer, or
- The student has an immediate family member who has had cancer (sibling, mother, father) and
- The student must be accepted and planning on attending college in the fall of the next year.
Application deadline is March 23, 2015 at 4pm, CST!
